How VR BOOST Agency turned the Orange data center into a guided, voice-narrated virtual visit that anyone with the access code can walk through from a browser.
A data center is one of the hardest places to visit: access is restricted, and the most interesting parts are behind locked doors.

A critical facility that few people can enter.
A data center is built around security and uptime, so physical visits are limited and each one takes staff time. Yet partners, clients and teams all want to understand what the facility offers and how it is run.
The goal was to let selected visitors discover the Orange data center remotely, room by room, with the same explanations a guide would give on site.
A Matterport twin, wrapped in a branded experience.
The facility was captured with Matterport as a dimensionally accurate 3D twin. VR BOOST Agency embedded it in a custom Next.js web app using the Matterport SDK, branded for Orange and titled “Visite virtuelle immersive du Data Center Orange DDC”.
- Matterport capture of the building, from the exterior to the server halls.
- Orange-branded interface with an access-code screen, so the visit stays private.
- Delivered as a containerized app (Docker) for straightforward deployment.
A guide that speaks when you arrive.
Instead of a silent walkthrough, the visit is narrated. As visitors move through the twin, the app tracks their position and plays a French voice-over the moment they reach a key area, while an animated Orange 3D character stands at the spot as a visual guide. Rotating Orange logo markers point out additional places worth a look.
Each stop explains a different part of the facility, so visitors follow a natural route through the site.
- External plan of the site
- Focus module and internal technical room
- Power generators
- Cooling system (chiller)
- Meet-me room
- Clean room and rack room
- Storage spaces
- Closing thanks
Open the doors without opening the doors.
The Orange visit shows how a digital twin, spatial audio and a 3D guide can turn a restricted facility into something people can explore on demand. The same approach works for any site that is difficult to visit: capture it once, add guided storytelling, and share it with the right audience.
